In one of the world''s firsts, Bloq has built a utility level quantum algorithm for machine learning that, when run on a quantum computer, outperforms state-of-the-art classical methods.
Our HQVAE algorithm is an advanced quantum version of classical VAEs. In synthetic data generation, it has beaten the best classical approaches on three key metrics: similarity score, privacy score, and classification accuracy.
For non-technical readers: our algorithm creates synthetic (artificial) datasets from real-world data. These are more similar to the original, while ensuring less spillover (i.e., not copying directly from the original). On classification tasks, the synthetic datasets produced by our algorithm not only scored the highest accuracy but even outperformed the real datasets. And it did this while using fewer resources than the best classical methods.
This work was successfully run on IBM''s 127-qubit QPU.
This is a generative model that can also be applied to image generation, semi-supervised learning, drug discovery, anomaly detection, and data augmentation across industries such as healthcare, finance, manufacturing, retail and more.
